IMPORTANT

  1. Scan for Codes First
Before removing the ECU, please have your vehicle scanned for any existing fault codes. This can be done at most local parts stores or by a mechanic. They will connect to your vehicle’s OBD2 port and provide a report of any stored codes.

  2. Disconnect the Battery
Once scanning is complete, disconnect the negative battery terminal. This step prevents warning lights or electrical issues when unplugging or reinstalling the ECU.

  3. ECU Reset Requirement
In some cases, the ECU may need to be shipped in for a reset before reinstallation.

  4. Vehicle Access
Make sure the vehicle doors are unlocked and the hood is open before removing the ECU. This ensures you can reinstall it without being locked out of the system.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Failure to follow these steps may result in vehicle issues. AMR Performance is not responsible for any problems caused by not adhering to these instructions.

ECU REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

The Ferrari 812 features a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter, 65-degree V12 engine, producing 789 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque in the Superfast and GTS models.

This V12 engine utilizes 2 ECU controlling each side of the engine bank.

  1. Prep & safety

  • Park ignition OFF, key out, hood open.

  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 5–10 minutes so modules sleep and capacitors discharge.

  1. Access

  • Go to the ECU location shown in the photo at the bottom of the page. Remove trim/covers as needed (push-pins/Torx). Keep fasteners organized.

  1. Label

  • Mark Left/Right (Bank 1/Bank 2) ECUs and each harness connector so they go back exactly where they came from.

  1. Unplug harness

  • Lift the connector secondary locks/cam levers (don’t pry the pins).

  • Slide the connector straight off. If there’s resistance, re-open the cam and try again—no wiggling on the wires.

  1. Unbolt ECU

  • Remove mounting bolts (typically Torx/E-Torx on a bracket).

  • Lift the ECU out with the bracket if needed to avoid bending the housing.

  1. Bag & protect

  • Cap/bag the connectors to keep dust out. Store ECUs in anti-static bags, cushioned.

  1. Re-install notes

  • Refit in reverse order; torque bracket bolts snug, seat connectors fully, and close the locks.

  • Reconnect battery last. Perform a key-ON power-up for 60–90 sec, then start. Clear any transient DTCs.

Pro tips

  • Take a quick photo of each connector before unplugging.

  • Do not open the ECU case unless you’re set up for bench work (risk of seal damage/moisture).

  • If ECUs were swapped or cloned, match them back to the original bank to avoid adaptation issues.
